Michelle Jones, a native of central Mississippi, received her BFA in painting from the University of Mississippi in 2003 and her MFA from Massachusetts College of Art in 2005. Recent exhibitions include solo exhibitions at Alabama Contemporary Art Center and Kentuck Art Center, as well as several group exhibitions, most recently at James May Gallery, WI. Jones was awarded an Individual Artist Fellowship for 2024 by the Alabama Council on the Arts.

After a decade in Boston, Jones returned to the South and now resides in Mobile, AL. The landscape along the Gulf Coast is a bit like living in the jungle and is a direct influence on her most recent work. Her paintings and mixed media installations are an invitation to revel in the excess and looming terror of nature itself.
